Rob Flick signed a three-year deal with the Blackhawks on Monday, the Blackhawks official Twitter feed reports.

Impact:
Flick recorded 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in 45 regular season games with the AHL Rockford IceHogs and looks to be like the next dynamic center produced from the Hawks' farm system.

Andrew Shaw can't wait to return to the lineup for Game 6 on Monday night after serving a three-game suspension, Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Impact:
Shaw had to be the biggest fan Saturday night for the Blackhawks winning Game 5 and pushing the series to six games. Shaw was suspended after hitting Coyotes goalie Mike Smith in Game 2.

Marian Hossa, who is dealing with a suspected concussion, won't play Monday against the Coyotes, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Impact:
On the plus side, Hossa visited the United Center Monday morning, and he's reportedly feeling much better. His status beyond Monday's Game 6 is cloudy, though the Hawks must of course avoid elimination for it to affect those in playoff pools.

04.22.12

Corey Crawford answered Chicago coach Joel Quenneville's call Saturday, allowing one goal as the Blackhawks won the series' fifth overtime game to stay alive in the first-round matchup.

Impact:
His job was a lot easier because of the smothering Chicago defense in front of him. He faced only 19 shots all night, while his counterpart, Phoenix's Mike Smith, saw double that number.

04.22.12

Nick Leddy bagged his first career playoff goal Saturday as the Blackhawks beat the Coyotes to force a Game 6 in the first-round series. He finished the game plus-2.

Impact:
His offense was a pleasant surprise this year, which can accurately be described as a breakout campaign. He gives the Blackhawks three legitimate offensive threats from the blue line, along with Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith.

04.22.12

Jonathan Toews scored in the third minute of yet another overtime game as the Blackhawks took Game 5 in Phoenix on Saturday night, 2-1.

Impact:
It doesn't seem possible, but this is his first OT tally of the entire season. Toews was actually marginally worse in home-ice action than on the road this season, but given his talent, that marginal difference shouldn't dissuade you from starting him in Monday's Game 6 in Chicago.

04.22.12

Viktor Stalberg collected all four of the Blackhawks' penalties in Saturday's Game 5 in Phoenix, then assisted on Jonathan Toews' overtime tally as Chicago stayed alive in the series.

Impact:
He is by no means an enforcer; he had just 34 PIMs over the course of the regular season. He just happened to get whistled again and again in this game. Fortunately for the Chicago faithful, the Hawks managed to kill all four Phoenix power plays.

04.21.12

Jimmy Hayes is in the lineup for the Blackhawks for Game 5 on Saturday night, WGN-AM Radio in Chicago reports.

Impact:
The Blackhawks are looking for some more muscle with the 6-foot-6-inch, 221-pound right winger. Hayes is in the lineup over Brandon Bollig. Hayes had five goals and four assists in 31 games during regular season.

04.21.12

Corey Crawford will start against Phoenix on Saturday, Chicago Sun-Times writer Adam Jahns reports.

Impact:
Crawford had a rough go of it in Game 4, but Chicago will stick with him Saturday.

04.20.12

Corey Crawford might not be in the nets to start the game against the Coyotes for pivotal Game 5, ESPN-AM 1000 reports.

Impact:
Blackhawks' coach Joel Quenneville did not say Friday who the goalie was going to be in goal for the team that needs a win down 3-1 in the Best of Seven to Phoenix. Quenneville could go to back-up Ray Emery against the Coyotes.

04.20.12

Ray Emery might be in line for his first playoff action as a Blackhawk on Saturday, ESPN-AM 1000 in Chicago reports.

Impact:
Blackhawks' coach Joel Quenneville did not commit to Corey Crawford on Friday so Emery could be in the nets for the team's pivotal Game 5 against the Coyotes. Crawford has not played poorly, but has let in some soft goals in overtime in both Game 3 and Game 4.

04.20.12

Marian Hossa (head) will not travel with the Blackhawks to Phoenix for Game 5 on Saturday, ESPN Chicago reports.

Impact:
Hossa was released from the hospital on Tuesday following a hit from Raffi Torres in Game 3. Coach Joel Quenneville said there is nothing new to report on Hossa's condition, and it's highly unlikely he appears any more in the series, if not the rest of the playoffs entirely.

04.19.12

Corey Crawford faced only 19 shots in Thursday's Game 4 against Phoenix, but he allowed three goals to take a second consecutive 3-2 loss.

Impact:
Crawford's now allowed three goals in all four games of this series; only once has his team exceeded that total, and so the 'Hawks find themselves down 3-1 in the series.

04.19.12

Jamal Mayers' has been scratched for Thursday's Game Four, the Blackhawks' official Twitter account reports.

Impact:
The reason for the scratch is currently unknown. Brendan Morrison replaces Mayers in the lineup.

04.19.12

Brandon Saad has a good shot at skating Thursday in Game 4 against the Coyotes, Blackhawks' coach Joel Quenneville told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Impact:
With the injuries to Marian Hossa and Andrew Shaw's three-game suspension, it appears to have opened the door for Saad. Saad was recalled Monday by the Blackhawks after finishing his season in the Ontario Hockey League's Saginaw Spirit. Saad was a second-round draft pick in 2011 and was sent back to his junior's team, Saginaw Spirit, after the first two games of the season. He led the OHL with 1.73 points per game played.

04.18.12

Marian Hossa has been ruled out for Game 4 against Phoenix on Thursday, the Blackhawks' official Twitter feed reports.

Impact:
This comes as no surprise, considering how hard Hossa was hit by Rafi Torres on Tuesday night. The Blackhawks have not laid out a timetable for Hossa's return, but it would be a surprise if he returns before the end of the series.

04.17.12

Marian Hossa has been released from the hospital, according to the Chicago Tribune. He had been rushed there via ambulance after being rocked by a nasty Raffi Torres hit early in Tuesday's game.

Impact:
Hossa would not speak to media and was able to get himself into a waiting car. He had been hit in the head by a charging Torres, potentially knocking the big winger out. There is plenty of speculation about the nature of Hossa's injury, including the likelihood of a concussion and the possibility of a broken jaw, but nothing is confirmed yet. Barring a miraculous recovery, we think he's done for this series and perhaps more.

04.17.12

Marian Hossa was stretchered off the ice and rushed to the hospital under police escort after an unpenalized charge from Phoenix's Raffi Torres, reports TSN.

Impact:
It was a scary moment. Torres hit Hossa in the head, stopping Hossa in his tracks and sending him back onto the ice. The team trainer leaped over the boards to assist Hossa while the play continued, and emergency personnel and team doctors arrived immediately. In-game reports indicate the ambulance received a police escort, a sign that we are afraid to speculate on. God speed, Marian.

04.17.12

Andrew Shaw will be suspended for three games for his hit to Phoenix's Mike Smith on Saturday, ESPN's Jesse Rogers reports.

Impact:
As a result, Shaw will be eligible to return to the Chicago lineup for Monday's Game 6, assuming the series (now tied at 1-1) is still going at that point.
