Ray Rice will likely receive the Ravens' franchise tag, the Baltimore Sun reports.

Impact:
The move makes a lot of sense from the Ravens' perspective. Not only do they lock up arguably their most valuable offensive player for another year, the tag buys the team a lot more time to hammer out a long-term deal. If Rice receives the tag he will earn an expected $7.7 million next season. The Ravens have until March 5 to make a decision.

Ray Rice (unspecified issue) was missing from the portion of Thursday's practice open to the media, the Baltimore Sun reports.

Impact:
Rice practiced Wednesday and there was no mention of any injury, so there's a good chnace this was just a maintenance day for him, with the Ravens on bye this week.

01.01.12

Ray Rice had 24 carries for 191 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Sunday's win at Cincinnati.

Impact:
Most of Rice's damage came on his touchdowns, as he scored on runs of 70 and 51 yards. Rice stepped up huge for the Ravens in a game that got them a first-round bye, and he should be one of the first runners selected in playoff leagues.

12.19.11

Ray Rice had 57 yards on 10 carries in Sunday's loss at San Diego. He also led the team with nine catches totaling 55 yards.

Impact:
The Ravens spent the majority of the game, and the entire second half, playing from behind, which limited Rice's carries. As usual, he was a big factor in the passing game, but his inability to score surely disappointed his fantasy owners. Look for a big bounce-back in next week's home game versus Cleveland.

12.12.11

Ray Rice racked up 149 total yards and a touchdown during Sunday's win over the Colts.

Impact:
Rice has been fantasy gold this season, especially now that he's finding the end zone with regularity. Rice has 12 total touchdowns this season with Willis McGahee in Denver, well eclipsing the six he had through 16 games last year.

12.04.11

Ray Rice ran wild against the Browns on Sunday, rushing for 204 yards with a touchdown.

Impact:
Rice got off to a great start with an early 30-yard scamper, and later added a 67-yard gallop. In theory, Rice could have finished with close to 300 yards rushing, but Ricky Williams added 16 carries for 76 yards with a touchdown of his own.
