Sidney Rice will spend the offseason rehabbing after surgery on both shoulders and hopes to be ready when training camp opens this summer, the Seattle Times reports.

Impact:
General manager John Schneider finally confirmed a month-old report that Rice had both shoulders operated on this offseason. It's a bit concerning that Schneider said he only "hopes" that Rice will be ready for training camp. Rice's season ended last year after a string of concussions, which is also something to consider for 2012.

Tarvaris Jackson does not need surgery to repair injured pectoral muscle that he struggled with most of last season, the Seattle Times reports.

Impact:
Jackson had a rocky season, but it speaks well of him that he improved as the season progressed despite playing with a severe pectoral injury. He threw 14 touchdowns to 13 interceptions, but the last six games he had seven TD and just two INT. He was sacked 42 times in 15 games - only Alex Smith had more (44) and he played 16 games. Part of that was a poor offensive line, but Jackson also routinely held the ball too long in the pocket. Jackson heads into 2012 as the starter over Charlie Whitehurst, though the Seahawks, if they draft a quarterback, aren't wed to him as he's in the last year of a two-year contract.

Marshawn Lynch likely will be given the franchise tag if he doesn't agree on a long-term deal with the Seahawks, NFL.com reports.

Impact:
The Seahawks probably would be better off by using the franchise tag on Lynch. Lynch started last season slowly, but became a fantasy factor by midseason. He rushed for 100 yards in six of his last nine games and scored a touchdown in a franchise-record 11 consecutive games.

02.03.12

Mike Williams, who underwent surgery in December to repair a broken ankle, said he likely will not be ready for OTAs and minicamps in April, ESPN 710 Seattle reports.

Impact:
Williams dealt with a number of injuries last season before being placed on IR in December. He said he wants to play at a lower weight next season, less than 240 pounds, to regain some explosiveness and to hopefully stay healthy.

01.30.12

Sidney Rice reportedly underwent surgery on both shoulders in early January, according to Tom Pelissero of ESPN 1500 Twin Cities.

Impact:
The report is unsourced and has yet to be confirmed by the Seahawks, Rice or other news outlets. In any event, at the time of his surgery for a torn labrum in his right shoulder, Rice was expected to need three to four months of rehab. He suffered the labrum injury in the second preseason game in August and missed the first two games of the year. He decided to play through the injury the rest of the way, but his season ultimately ended on IR after he suffered his third concussion, missing Seattle's last five games. Rice finished with 32 receptions in nine games, scoring just two touchdowns. Rice has played a full season once in his five-year career.

01.05.12

Sidney Rice underwent surgery to repair his shoulder injury on Tuesday, the Seattle Times reports.

Impact:
Rice's recovery time is estimated at about three to four months and the wideout indicated that he expects to be ready for the Seahawks' organized training activities this coming offseason.

01.03.12

Sidney Rice will undergo shoulder surgery, Seattle Times writer Danny O'Neil reports.

Impact:
It's not clear what exactly was Rice's issue, but he's expected to be out 3-to-4 months with the injury. It's something to watch as training camp approaches.

01.01.12

Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral) is active for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, the Seattle Times reports.

Impact:
He struggled against Arizona in their Week 3 meeting, but look for Seattle to rely on a ground-heavy attack Sunday and limit Jackson's opportunities to throw, making him a low-end option at quarterback in most formats.

01.01.12

Ben Obomanu (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, the Seattle Times reports.

Impact:
He's no higher than third on the depth chart at receiver for the Seahawks right now with Doug Baldwin and Golden Tate ahead of him in the pecking order for targets.

12.30.11

Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral) is probable for Sunday's game against Arizona, Seahawks reporter Curtis Crabtree reports.

Impact:
Jackson's injury is a non-issue at this point. His greater concerns from a fantasy standpoint are his run-heavy offense and mediocre skill set.

12.30.11

Ben Obomanu (knee) has been upgraded to probable for Sunday's game against Arizona, Seahawks reporter Curtis Crabtree reports.

Impact:
Despite Obomanu's improving condition, he's probably not a fantasy option. Doug Baldwin and Golden Tate are the relevant Seattle wideouts right now.

12.28.11

Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral) was a full participant during Wednesday's practice, reports the Seahawks' official site.

Impact:
Jackson has been playing through the injury for weeks, so he's ready to go in Sunday's season finale.

12.28.11

Ben Obomanu (knee) is a game-time decision for Sunday, the Seahawks' official site reports.

Impact:
Obomanu suffered a sprained knee in Saturday's game. He doesn't get much action even when healthy, though.

12.28.11

Marshawn Lynch (ankle) "seems to be fine" and should play Sunday, the Seahawks' official site reports.

Impact:
Coach Pete Carroll said he expects Lynch to play. The Seahawks are out of the playoff race, but they're still playing for a .500 record (hey, it's something), and Lynch probably has a chip on his shoulder after being snubbed for the Pro Bowl.

12.24.11

Doug Baldwin (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against San Francisco, Curtis Crabtree of the Associated Press reports.

Impact:
He did not practice all week and it's possible that his productive rookie season will end with very limited work during the final two weeks of the season.

12.24.11

Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral) is active for Saturday's game against San Francisco, Curtis Crabtree of the Associated Press reports.

Impact:
He's 23rd in fantasy points among quarterbacks over the last three weeks and considering the way the Niners' defense has played throughout the season, it's tough to think of Jackson as anything more than a desperation play at this point.

12.23.11

Doug Baldwin (ankle) did not practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against San Francisco.

Impact:
Baldwin did not practice Thursday or Friday, so it's difficult to feel confident about his chances of playing Saturday. He's looking like a game-time decision at best.

12.23.11

Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral) is probable for Saturday's game against San Francisco.

Impact:
Jackson will be available Saturday, but he's primarily an option only in two-quarterback leagues. He has been playing in a game-manager role lately and faces a tough defense this week.

12.22.11

Doug Baldwin (ankle) did not practice Thursday, Seahawks reporter Curtis Crabtree reports.

Impact:
Coach Pete Carroll said he expects Baldwin to play against the 49ers on Saturday despite missing the practice. Those in deep leagues who were considering Baldwin for Saturday might need to prepare for a game-time decision.

12.21.11

Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral) was a full participant during Wednesday's practice, according to the Seahawks' official website.

Impact:
Jackson lost another receiver last week when Mike Williams suffered a season-ending ankle injury. Jackson may be forced to air it out Saturday, however, as Marshawn Lynch could be held in check against San Francisco's league-best rush defense.
