Rashad Jennings (knee) has impressed Jags' coach Mike Mularkey with starter Maurice Jones-Drew not attending OTAs due to a contract dispute, according to the Florida Times-Union.

Impact:
Jennings spent all of last year on the IR, but could be thrust into a huge spot this year if MJD ends up holding out for any amount of time.

Vick Ballard agreed to a four-year, $2.24 million contract with the Colts, Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times reports.

Impact:
Ballard will compete with Donald Brown and Delone Carter for the bulk of the Colts' tailback duties. Neither Brown nor Carter were particularly outstanding in their opportunities last season, meaning Ballard could see a fair share of carries during the season with a strong training camp.

Jeremy Ebert agreed to a four-year, $2.148 million contract with the Patriots, scout.com reports.

Impact:
The Patriots have a slew of wideouts that will be auditioning for a roster spot, ensuring that Ebert will face an uphill battle to break camp with the team.

Kareem McKenzie says he plans to play next season, but will retire if no teams consider pursuing him, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Impact:
McKenzie appeared in all 16 games for the fourth straight season in 2011. He will be 33 when the season begins, and if he's not picked up before training camp, he could find himself on an active roster when injuries inevitably occur to teams later in the season.

According to special teams coordinator Greg McMahon, the Saints did not merely re-sign the 42-year old John Kasay for insurance reasons in case Garrett Hartley was not fully healed from the injury that sidelined him last year, but rather plan on holding an open competition for kicking duties, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Impact:
Kasay was excellent last season filling in for Hartley and this is good news for potential Kasay owners, though it remains the worst nightmare for fantasy owners drafting early in the year, as it seems that this competition could last through training camp.

According to special teams coordinator Greg McMahon, the Saints did not merely re-sign 42-year old John Kasay for insurance reasons in case Garrett Hartley was not fully healed from the injury that sidelined him last year, but rather plan on holding an open competition for kicking duties, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Impact:
If Hartley thought that the starting kicking spot was simply going to be handed to him after missing all of last season, he was sorely mistaken. Kasay excelled in Hartley's absence, and while the Saints would prefer Hartley win the job given the significant difference in ages between the players, he will have to seize the opportunity in training camp.

According to interim head coach Joe Vitt, Nick Toon displayed good hands and speed in separating himself from other players at Saints minicamp, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Impact:
While this isn't huge news, it is good to know that Toon looks like he belongs after being drafted by the Saints in the fourth round of the NFL draft. With the departure of Robert Meachem via free agency, only the unproven Adrian Arrington stands between Toon and a nice role in one of the most explosive offenses in the league. Even if Toon can't pass Arrington or veteran Devery Henderson on the depth chart, he is at least a name fantasy owners should be familiar with in case the injury bug strikes.

Joe McKnight, who bulked up this offseason, is at 216 pounds at the moment and hopes to settle into the 205-210 range by Week 1, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Impact:
McKnight is about 15 pounds heavier than he was last season, by design. "I was what, 198?" McKnight noted. "I had to eat. I gained the weight the right way then I worked out and turned it into muscle." Though he admitted that dining at McDonald's helped him add weight, he believes the extra pounds won't hinder his speed. "I don't feel like I've been slowed down," McKnight said. "And from what I heard it doesn't look like I've slowed down, I got more explosive, more powerful out of my cuts, I could say that." In any case, the departure of LaDainian Tomlinson opens up the opportunity for McKnight to see an expanded workload this season, in tandem with Shonn Greene.

Kenny Britt (torn ACL) had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Wednesday, the Tennesean's Jim Wyatt reports.

Impact:
Early reports had Britt ahead of schedule in his recovery, but his status for Week 1 is very much up in the air. Although the procedure he underwent on Wednesday was a minor one, it is still not a good sign that he needed a follow-up surgery. We are still at least three months away from most fantasy drafts, but those of you who draft early will want to proceed with caution when it comes to Britt.

05.16.12

Bernaduea (hip) underwent surgery to repair a tear in his right hip, Todd Archer of ESPNDallas reports.

Impact:
Bernadeau is expected to miss 10-12 weeks while recovering from surgery. The Cowboys signed Bernadeau to a four-year, $11 million deal as a free agent this offseason in an attempt to fix the interior of their offensive line.

05.16.12

Chandler Harnish (knee) may miss two to three weeks according to Colts beat writer Mike Chappell.

Impact:
As "Mr. Irrelevant" of the 2012 draft, Harnish doesn't look to be competing for any playing time, however. If he wants a roster spot he'll have to fix this knee up and perform well in training camp come August.

05.16.12

Nick Reed signed a contract with Minnesota, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Impact:
He was drafted by Seattle in the seventh round in 2009. He's a long shot to win a sizable role.

05.16.12

Kendall Wright displayed good hands and speed during rookie orientation. His biggest adjustment to playing professional football may be learning from a playbook.

Impact:
Wright was drafted by the Titans in the first round, with the expectation that he could make an impact in his rookie season. With Kenny Britt coming off major knee surgery, and not much speed at the receiver position for the Titans, Wright will have an opportunity to show he is capable of being a productive receiver right from the start of the season. We would not expect him to start immediately, but look for him to possibly come in during most three receiver sets and third down situations.

05.16.12

Taylor Price, who had been dealing with a stress fracture in his foot, underwent surgery and had a pin put in to address the issue, the Florida Times-Union reports.

Impact:
Price will miss the rest of the offseason, which doesn't help his cause of making a splash in his first full season with the Jags, especially given the team's offseason additions (Justin Blackmon and Laurent Robinson) at wideout.

05.16.12

Brock Osweiler was tabbed as the "guy for the future" for Denver by vice president of football operations John Elway, NFL.com reports.

Impact:
With Peyton Manning and Caleb Hanie ahead of him on the depth chart, it's highly doubtful that Osweiler will see the field this season. That being said, Manning remains an injury risk and if he were to go down, Osweiler will be next in line. Manning signed a five-year contract during this offseason and there aren't many better guys to learn from before taking over in the future.

05.16.12

Martin Rucker has signed with the Chiefs, ESPN.com reports.

Impact:
Rucker will give the Chiefs some added tight end depth and his chances of sticking are probably aided by the fact that he has a history with Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel, who was coaching in Cleveland when the Browns made a Rucker a fourth-round pick in 2008.

05.16.12

Matt Prater has not been participating in the Broncos' offseason workouts and still hasn't signed his $2.6 million franchise tender offer, the Denver Post reports.

Impact:
Prater's agent said that he's not going simply because it's voluntary and he has chosen to workout elsewhere. The kicker was very effective last season with a number of game-winning kics from 50 or more yards and he feels he deserves a lucrative long-term deal. The Broncos apparently made him a five-year offer although the dollar amount was well below what he was looking for.

05.16.12

Barry Richardson signed with the Rams on Tuesday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Impact:
Richardson started all 32 games at right tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs the last two seasons. While he struggled some, he still adds o-line depth to a club desperate for it, and should play heavily into the mix for the starting right tackle job with incumbent Jason Smith.

05.16.12

Mario Haggan signed with the Rams on Tuesday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Impact:
Haggan is a good run defender and special teams player who will most likely be used on the strong side in St. Louis. He's 32 years old and likely on the downside of his career, but with as thin as their linebacking corps are right now the club had little choice, and frankly they could have done worse than a guy who started all 32 games the last two years for the Denver Broncos and was also their special teams captain.

05.15.12

Darius Fleming suffered a torn ACL on Friday, the San Fransisco Chronicle reports.

Impact:
Fleming, who suffered the injury during a non-contact position drill, is presumably out for the season, which represents a hit to the 49ers' depth at outside linebacker.
